Finished!
posted by Mrs D on February 21, 2005 00:05
Yay! Have finished Alice. Made her head, and then attached it to her body. The neck looked a bit insecure so I added a collar to shore the whole thing up. Well pleased with it. Makes her look a bit smarter.

Here's the two of them together

Bell for Captain in 2005
posted by Mrs D on February 15, 2005 20:34
Ok - so I 'may' have been talking a bit too much about craft lately ... well sorry.

Well here's some footy news.
The lovely Peter Bell has been named Captain for the 2005 season. Isn't he wonderful?

[and if you can't work out for which team ... or even what code ... well I'm not even going to comment]

Alice continues
posted by Mrs D on February 15, 2005 20:23
Well Alice now has arms and legs. Gave her some lovely pantaloons. I used florist wire in both the legs and arms - it gives her some support so she can stand.
I wrapped the wire and stuffed her body so she's nice and soft.

Now I just have the head left to do, which is quite an undertaking. Have been putting it off for the last couple of nights. Its been really hot, too hot to handle material without having to wash my hands every 10 mins or so.

(Last night at 11pm it was still 32 degrees... blah)

I hope it gets cooler soon - still have Mad Hatter, and perhaps Cheshire cat to go ...

I also retro-fitted the card man with wire legs so he can at be a bit more interactive.

Crafty update

Started making Alice last night. Made her dress. Had a brain wave to use florist wire inside her arms to make them flexible.

Things are looking good.

Crafty inspiration
posted by Mrs D on February 7, 2005 22:50
Need some inspiration to do something crafty? Don't put it off any longer. Now is an excellent time to start something new.

Try the Month of Softies- see the link on the left.
This month the theme is: Alice in Wonderland

I've finished my first softie. Quite proud of it if I say so myself. I made one of the card gardeners out of felt.

The Five of Diamonds

The back

I'm thinking of making a few more characters ... seeing that I finished the first one so quick.
